(Copied from a vintage computer page)
“Had a great time last week talking to a bunch of elementary school kids about computers.
I used this Radio Shack advertisement from 1991 and showed them that their smart phones could do 13 out of 15 things in the ad.
It was not an original idea with me, but I made a PowerPoint presentation, dragged along an old cellphone, a credit card calculator, a CD player, tape player, AM/FM Radio, mirror, flashlight, etc. Also made a gimme bag with a punched card, floppy disk and audio cassette. Memo to self - save the gimmes to the last.
Once they were passed out I totally lost control of the group. I have added presenter's comments to the presentation and will be happy to share it with anybody interested. Just let me know.
What did the kids like the best? The audio cassette.”
