Our New showroom features 10,000 square feet of fine antique furniture and decorative items from the UK, Western and Eastern Europe, and many unusual items from Asia, India, and Scandinavia. All pieces are hand picked by Brian and Barbara Proper and, if necessary, restored to their original condition by some of the best restorers in all of Europe. We also carry many high quality reproductions such as chairs, bar stoles, and lamps.
Prior to setting up shop, Brian and Barbara Proper had each acquired extensive familiarity with antiques and decorating sense. Brian, born and raised in England, grew up around quality pieces and the people who know their every detail, including when and how to repair and care for them.
Barbara, in addition to a professional career, practiced interior decorating. Balancing the unusual with the practical usaing pieces from around the world. Finally, in 1974, their personal collection and love for wonderful objects blossomed into a business concern named after Brian’s Mother’s home in Surrey, England.
